In India, there is much much that can be done to help and assist the differently abled!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7269219202790509435.post-11169558230888503912013-12-23T22:00:17.402+05:302013-12-23T22:00:17.402+05:30I feel the way the girl was reacting had actually ...I feel the way the girl was reacting had actually nothing to do with her disability - even if she could see, she would still complain and whine! People are the way they are - they can blame their circumstances but the truth is that it is they, on their own, who define what they become!Divyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07478829599969479017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7269219202790509435.post-16932151607843455732013-12-21T12:10:13.102+05:302013-12-21T12:10:13.102+05:30Blind people especially the females are more vulne...Blind people especially the females are more vulnerable than others and might have faced unpleasant experiences.Even without such incidents, given their disability, they tend to be cautious,
suspicious and even jealous. Not all can be Helen Keller. It depends upon the upbringing and the parents role and financial status. We cannot judge these hapless by our standards.Job opportunities are very less and more of routine and repetitive nature. The poor suffer most.
There are a few things governments can do.
Education can be made free with residential facilities till they attain skill to earn their living.
Two or three schools in each district with special facilities for blind.
Special preferences in certain types of jobs that are most suited to them
Free medical facilities to correct or minimize the disability.
Identification of children with vision problems in time at schools for remedial action.KParthasarathihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02189924874350906456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7269219202790509435.post-48426897260426979442013-12-20T07:16:31.713+05:302013-12-20T07:16:31.713+05:30They (people like this girl) behave this way becau...They (people like this girl) behave this way because the family gives preferential treatment at the initial stages due to their disability. They then take advantage of this and try to control everyone around them. I knew a family who had 7 kids. This disabled kid was 4th child. Out of guilty feeling, the parents and siblings started to give him special privilege. The son took advantage of it and he started to “rule” the house. For example, he would decide who the siblings get married to and what would be the name of the baby for any child born in the home. Nothing should happen against his wishes. Even after the parents died, he decided who gets how much in allocation of parents’ assets. He ruled until the day he died.SGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05790347071764332430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7269219202790509435.post-58548452072020878382013-12-20T05:03:24.474+05:302013-12-20T05:03:24.474+05:30That was quite a post starting off with that Vijay...That was quite a post starting off with that Vijayawada train journey moving on to your campus, talking about that girl who worked at the bank and ending at the railway station again :)

My personal take is that it all depends on the conditioning that the parents of blind kids provide them during their formative years that makes them the kind of people they become, strong and independent versus weak and dependent. Having said that, I can never fully understand the darkness of a blind person myself.

Lovely post :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
